Basic Module Sustainable Development

As part of the university-wide basic module, the University of Graz offers introductory courses that deal with interdisciplinary topics and provide orientation, especially at the beginning of your studies. The course is offered every winter semester.

To ensure practicality, each unit is designed by a lecturer from the university and an external expert. For example, architects, farmers and entrepreneurs have their say. Individual options for action in the areas of nutrition, consumption, housing, mobility and politics are part of the course. The connection made between theory and practice was very well received by the students, as in this way even complex topics can be presented in a dynamic yet clear way.

The new basic module Sustainable Development was introduced to the course curriculum under the direction of the RCE Graz-Styria. The basic module is open to all students at the University of Graz across all faculties and can be credited as a free elective subject with two ECTS. It comprises six units that introduce the topic of sustainability in a low-threshold manner and are guided by the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
