By 2030, the University of Graz aims to actively contribute to the removal of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere by promoting nature-based carbon storage in agricultural and forested soils, forests, and wetlands in Austria. This is achieved through strategic partnerships with industry partners and by supporting farmers, foresters, and other organizations through research and close collaboration between academia and the field. The goal is to make a nature-based contribution to reducing greenhouse gases. By 2040, this contribution is expected to account for a maximum of 10 percent of reference emissions and contribute to the goal of climate neutrality.
