To ensure practical relevance, each module is designed by a university lecturer and an external expert. This gives a voice to architects, farmers and entrepreneurs, for example. The course also highlights individual opportunities for action in the areas of nutrition, consumption, housing, mobility and politics. Students responded very positively to the link between theory and practice, as this approach allowed even complex topics to be presented clearly.
Under the leadership of the RCE Graz-Styria, the new introductory module on sustainable development has been launched. The basic module is open to all students across all faculties at the University of Graz and can be taken as an elective worth two ECTS credits. It comprises six units that provide an accessible introduction to the topic of sustainability and are based on the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
